Rene, Rene, Qu’est-ce-que c’est?
1995, 24 mins. The victims of childhood sexual abuse often grow up to become the abusers. This psychological construct and the recent tabloid climate where everyone seems to be asserting their status as “the victim” is the underlying theme of this comedy about being "molested”. But since I was the one who was “molested”, why shouldn’t I be able to make the experience now pay for me as an artist? “Video therapy” is a way to make all the crap I endured growing up fat, gay and catholic finally bearable. Plus, “It really makes me hot looking at and editing all these images…so I guess I need a little more help than I think!” Since its World Premiere in Berlin, U.S. premier in San Francisco, part one has screened in over 60 International film & video festivals and programmes.
